Smart Panel Update

The ‘Smart Panel’ has become my favorite panel system for the Vogue Saddle!  With its high wither clearance, shape to maintain/create a narrower twist, and its shim pockets, I find it to be a more evolved cousin to the Suberpad.  For those of you who haven’t heard about it before, the Smart Panel is a cork filled half pad with baffles that allow the cork to shift to fit the shape of a horse’s back while still staying well distributed.  The cork fill is very breathable, resilient yet not too bouncy, anti-microbial, very shock absorptive, incredibly moisture absorptive and all natural!

It can also be used as a half pad to help create back protection for horse & twist for rider under treeless saddles or bareback pads.

In short it is a multi-purpose tack item that may very well become a key item in your tack collection – it did in mine!

You can order it  here.

Will it work under a treeless western saddle?

    • justequus says:

Hi Keria, The Smart Panel’s standard lengths (comes in 3 sizes) will run shorter than the overall length of the saddle. In some cases in which the customer has a short backed horse and really doesn’t want pressure over the loin, the standard sizing works fine and the expecation was that the skirting would extend beyond the end of the Smart Panel. If however you need to have the Smart Panel extend further back, we can have a custom sized Smart Panel made up to lengths of 24″.. You need to pick the fill that would be appropriate for your saddle’s existing panelling or padding.
      Does that make sense?
p.s. what sort of Western treeless are you referring to? please include link..
